Gaze at the beautiful seahorses and seadragons at the Seahorse Farm in Port Adelaide. It's a great family excursion, allowing you to see several species and learn interesting facts about them.
Did you know that adult seahorses vary in size from approximately two centimetres to 30 centimetres? At the Seahorse Farm, you can see different species – all with different colours, markings and number of tail rings. You can also see differences in their number of fin rays, the shape of their coronet or crown, cheek and eye spines.
Owner Tracy Warland began farming seahorses in 1998 so hobbylists could enjoy these majestic fish without putting pressure on wild stocks. Australian Seahorses were placed under the Wildlife Protection Act in 1998 and their conservation status is considered vulnerable. Seahorse populations throughout the world are diminishing.
While visiting you will be able to watch an educational DVD. There are also several species of marine fish - including Port Jackson Sharks – in the touch pond.
Children must be supervised by an adult. No cameras permitted.
Concession and group booking rates apply.
