Bluff Knoll is the highest peak in the Stirling Ranges and indeed the whole south west of the state. The peak towers 1,094.97 metres above sea level and dominates the view from the Stirling Range Retreat. From the summit it offers magnificent 360 degree views, and a glimpse of the ocean on a clear day.
The climb up Bluff Knoll is rated as one of Australia's top 25 hikes. Splendid wildflowers are in bloom from September to November. The walk is a six kilometre return trip and should take three to four hours.
Please beware that weather conditions on the mountains can change rapidly during any day of the year. Be prepared for wind chill and low cloud. This is the only area in Western Australia that receives snow fall.
