Ferngrove Vineyards Estate was established in 1997 by Murray Burton. Ferngrove's wines are estate grown and produced in the cool climate wine region of Frankland River, approximately 360 kilometres south of Perth near Mount Barker.
As well as award winning wines, Ferngrove has an impressive tourism oriented winery and cellar sales facility featuring a 15 metre lookout tower with stunning views over surrounding vineyards and the spectacular Stiirling Ranges. Wines available for tasting include; blended range - Semillion Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Merlot; varietal range Riesling; Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Merlot; orchid range - Cossack Riesling; Chardonnay; Dragon Shiraz, Majestic Cabernet Sauvignon and King Malbec; icon range - 2001 The Stirlings.
Ferngrove and Frankland River have attracted increasing interest from wine writers and one point on which all critics seem to agree is that Frankland River is an outstanding wine region. Max Allen, in the Weekend Australian described it as 'one of the most exciting wine producing areas in Australia and pointed out wine quality is very high at Ferngrove. In the respected industry journal Winewise, Lester Jesberg hinted there was much more to come from Ferngrove; not too cool, not too hot is the launching pad for what will surely be a succession of top class wines from one of Australia's best new wineries.
