The Frankland River is the longest river that flows into the Walpole-Nornalup Inlet, a deep, well-flushed estuary permanently open to the sea. Most of the river flows through cleared agricultural land and hence it is seriously salt affected and nutrient enriched.
The Gordon River is a tributary of the Frankland River and the entire length of both totals 400 kilometres. The river passes through some picturesque scenery and is popular for recreational activities such as canoeing, kayaking and fishing.
