The commitee with support by the shire and funding opportunities provide a free festival in the main street of Katanning.
The fifth year of the festival and the second year of GWN's sponsorship of television advertising, coincides with 'Harmony Day' and 'Day of Elimination of Racial Descrimination', creating the perfect day for celebrating Katanning's diversity as the second most multicultural town in Western Australia.
Different varieties of entertainment are provided to expose differerent cultures and inspire and leave skills in the community. These include music, dance and cultural performances by local community members and visitors, an official opening by the three predominant cultures and a workshop by the group KASAMBA in the late morning and community involvement during their afternoon performance.
Other activities included in the festival are; a triathlon, street cricket, community- unity walk, bicycle race- 'Tour De Terrace', pavement art, art demonstrations, Katanning 500 Billy-Kart race, global village food - Malay, Maori, Indian, Indigenous, Italian, South African and many more, local art exhibition titled 'Together', Noongar culture celebrated with exhibitions, demonstrations and discussions, cultural stories told in the secret garden and a unique surprise entertainment guest. (Last year an international performance aerialist flew through the main street of Katanning).
