Coming from a family whose involvement in farming dates back 140 years, Michael Wright was keenly aware that to create something truly unique would involve planning, effort and above all, time.
After purchasing the Estate in 1991 Michael's first move was to expand the winery by buying three adjoining properties, bringing the total area to 300 hectares. Over the next few years a program of extensive modernization and improvement was undertaken.
The result of these efforts is that whilst exploring the scenic delights of the Margaret River region of Western Australia, visitors pass one particular winery that, even from the road, commands attention. Behind its magnificent gates stretch long lines of meticulously maintained vines, sweeping lawns, inviting gardens and spectacular Cape-Dutch inspired architecture.
Since Voyager Estate was established we have sought to create an environment where wines of the highest quality can be enjoyed with and complemented by food of the highest quality.
Our Executive Chef creates menus driven by the freshest, local produce available. The seasonal menus often feature Indian and Southern Ocean fish, Rottnest Island scallops, Pemberton marron, Vasse asparagus, Margaret River venison, Mount Barker free range chicken and estate-reared lamb, grown on the parts of our land not suitable for viticulture.
The focus is on inventive, modern Australian cuisine. Each dish is matched with our award winning selection of current and museum release wines and complemented by polished, friendly and efficient service.
The restaurant is open daily from 1000 to 1700, serving morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. Bookings are suggested and can be made by calling 08 9757 6354. Closed on Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Day.
