In 1851 Joseph Seppelt, fleeing turmoil in his native Silesia purchased a beautiful property in the Barossa Valley, and in true Silesian fashion, named it after himself - Seppeltsfield. He decided to plant vines. Thus was born the village you see today. These bluestone cellars now carefully mature the 100 year old Para Port. Over the years many activities and industries found a sympathetic home at Seppeltsfield. Our vision is to see as many of these (and more) revived.
Today, the cellar door is open for tastings and guided tours as follows:
Daily Heritage Tour: Operates daily at 11.30am, 1.30pm and 3.30pm. Duration 45 minutes including tasting.
Journey into Fortifieds Tour: Operates daily at 2.30pm. Bookings required 24 hours prior notice, minimum of four people. Journey into Fortified wines on an exclusive guided tour, including the innovative gravity feed cellar. Duration 90 minutes including tasting.
The Legend of Seppelt Tour: Operates Saturday and Sunday at 10.30am (additional times available by request). Bookings required 24 hours prior notice, minimum of two people. Enjoy the ultimate foresight of Benno Seppelt when you discover The Legend of Seppelt. Duration two hours (including tasting).
