In 1963, members of the Blue Mountains Group of the Society for Growing Australian Plants expressed a desire to acquire an area of land which they could manage and develop into a show place for Australian native plants. It was decided that any plantings done in the Reserve should be confined to species which are indigenous to the Blue Mountains City Area, including Eucalyptus, Banksia Persoonia, Melaleuca, Eriostemon, Daviesia, Lambertia Pultanaea, Dillwynia, Baeckea & Pterostylis.
The Glenbrook Native Plant Reserve is open every Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm During June & July they are open Saturday & Sunday only from 10am - 2pm - Entry is FREE There is a wide range of interesting plants, seeds & books for sale.
