The Mount Victoria & District Historical Society Inc MUSEUM has an amazing collection of Australiana, spanning from the early explorers and convict times to more recent social history, as well as memorabilia, photographs and historic records of Mount Victoria and district. They are open afternoons on weekends, Public Holidays and School Holidays from 2.00 pm to 5.00 pm
There are examples of early farming tools and dairy utensils, Natural History including animal and bird life, laundry and kitchenware, the local mining industry and a collection of early photographic equipment. Also on display are Railway Refreshment Room tableware, as well as a schoolroom and clothing from the early 1900.
Local history publications and souvenirs are available for purchase. Adults $3.00 - Children 50 cents
The grand, old sandstone railway station, in which the collection is housed, is in itself a worthwhile visit as a reminder of the days of steam train travel.
There is always something of interest for everyone as you step back into the past.
