Autumn is a wonderful time to visit the Blue Mountains! The temperature is comfortable and there are a range of gardens, ablaze with spectacular Autumn colours, that you can visit.
Mt Wilson Gardens are famous for their magnificent cool climate exotic flora. The gardens are privately owned and therefore opening times and days are at the discretion of the owner.
Windyridge Gardens and Yengo Sculpture Gardens, both on Queens Ave, are open daily from 9.00am to 4.30pm and weekends only from 10.00am to 6.00pm respectively.
Merry Garth Gardens, on Davies Lane are open daily from 9.00am to 5.00pm.
Sefton Cottage Gardens and Nooroo Gardens, both on Church Lane, are open daily from 9.00am to 5.00pm and weekends only from 10.00am to 4.00pm respectively.
Breenhold Gardens and Bebeah Gardens, both on The Avenue, are open weekends from 10.00am to 4.00pm and selected days, respectively.
All of the above gardens are at Mt Wilson.
View the stunning colours of the blossoms at the beautiful Everglades Gardens, on Everglades Ave at Leura. These gardens are open daily from 10.00am to 5.00pm.
Mount Tomah Botanical Gardens on the Bells Line Rd at Mt Tomah, emphasises cool-climate plants from around the world. It is open daily from 10.00am to 4.00pm.
Francesca Park, at 14 Ellison Road, Springwood, is a private botanical garden, with a large variety of plants, including Dutch Irises and other bulbs, roses, conifers and a wisteria walk. It is open all of May or by appointment.
There will also be a selection of flora-themed special events running during Autumn.
The Twin Gums Open Garden Scheme, at 1 Albert Rd, Bullaburra has unusual plant and colour combinations, with both native and exotic trees. It is open 1 - 2 March from 10.00am to 4.30pm.
The Collectors’ Plant Fair will be held at 27 Powells Rd, Bilpin on 26-27 April, 2008. There will be displays from 40 growers of distinctive, unusual collectable plants, as well as a speaker’s program. Saturday 10.00am – 4.00pm. Sunday 10.00am – 3.00pm.
The Big Daffodil Bulb Sale will be held at ‘Falkirk’, 2070 Edith Road, Oberon from 23-30 April 2008, from 9.30am – 5.00pm. This is a chance to buy your specialised daffodil bulbs for planting!
