Completed in 1884, this Gothic cathedral is possibly the most beautiful of the churches designed by Edmund Blacket. Features of the building's interior are stain-glass windows and detailed stone & timber carving. The magnificent organ that was completely restored over a decade ago is still in use comprising 43 stops and 2253 pipes.

The bell tower was a bicentennial project with the NSW Government. The original bell has been installed alongside the 8 Bells from St Mark's Leicester, which were hallowed by the Archbishop of Canterbury in
March 1988. The 12 bell peal is now complete. The final bell to be installed will be the flat sixth (planned to be on site early in 2006). With this bell, St Saviour's will have achieved the objective of being the only country tower having twelve plus one bells ringing full circle in the Southern Hemisphere, making Goulburn a must visit destination for bell ringers from around the world. It is hoped in the future to complete Blacket's design by erecting the spire.

The Cathedral Hall has been modified in conjunction with the Goulburn Regional Conservatorium to provide a modern performance space which, together with the Cathedral venue, hosts regular concert performances including internationally acclaimed symphony orchestras and choral groups.

Royal Letters Patent issued by Queen Victoria on 14 March 1863 established the Diocese of Goulburn giving Goulburn city status and making it Australia's first inland city. The existing St Saviour's Church at the time became the Cathedral. The city celebrates this birthday with the annual 'Celebration of Heritage and Roses Festival' which incorporates St Saviour's 'Cathedral Week' activities for 9 days including the weekends either side of the 14th of March. For more information on this annual community festival featuring heritage tours, exhibitions and special presentations plus the annual City of Goulburn Rose Show, contact the Goulburn Visitor Information Centre on 1800 353 646 or emal: info@igoulburn.com
