Wyangala is located a shirt drive from Cowra at the junction of the Lachlan and Abercrombie Rivers.

The lake is a vast expanse of water and when full has a surface area that is two and half times the size of Sydney Harbour. (As of the beginning of March 2008 the capacity of Wyangala Waters is approximately 14%)

The surrounding area offers excellent accommodation and camping facilities. There are bungalows, cottages, cabins and even a couple of houseboats. There are also plenty of powered and un-powered grassy campsites with some backwaters camping areas for the more adventurous.

The kiosk and service station can provide food, fuel, bait, ice, EFTPOS and the nearby Wyangala Country Club ensures visitors have everything they need right at their fingertips.

There are many activities available in the park including power boating, canoeing, sailing, water slides, walking trails and beaches just for relaxing.

Day Visitors are very welcome as the park offers excellent picnic and barbecue facilities. Fishermen can expect to catch Trout, Silver Perch, Yellow Belly, Cat Fish, Murray Cod and more.

Wyangala Waters State Park offers something for every member of the family all year round. Make sure you come and see us and remember if you are planning to stay give us a call to avoid disappointment.

Dogs are welcome but need to be on a lead at all times.

Facts and Figures:
The surface area of the dam is two and a half times the size of Sydney Harbour
The capacity of the dam is 1,217,600 mega litres
The catchment area is 828,800 hectares
The length of the wall is 1,510 metres
Work on the first dam commenced in 1928
A second dam was proposed to increase the storage capacity for irrigation.
Work commenced in 1961 and was completed in 1971.
