Cleggett Wines is the proud home of two new Australian grape varieties - they originated in the Cleggett family vineyards at Langhorne Creek. Shalistin is our white cabernet sauvignon and Malian is our bronze cabernet sauvignon - both have the same DNA profile as the parent cabernet sauvignon grape.
Our award winning wines offer the consumer a point of difference and visitors can taste a variety of styles and vintages. Our Legend Series Cabernet and 'The Two of Us' Cabernet Merlot complement Shalistin and Malian. In 2007 a Shiraz will be added to the portfolio.
Scientists have spent many years observing the two new varieties and this work has led to a greater understanding of the origins of grape varieties. Visitors are able to access much of the information through our website, by talking with the owners, through vineyard tours (by appointment) and access to the literature. An educational DVD is planned for use in a new purpose built cellar door (building to commence in 2007) for next door to the current temporary cellar door outlet.
On the third weekend of October each year visitors are invited to attend our lunch in the vineyard. Our guests enjoy gourmet food and wine, fine hospitality and service, all in a rustic setting but comfortable vineyard setting. Other special events will be developed along with the new cellar door.
Cleggett Wines offer a truly interesting experience and one that all South Australian's should be proud of and support. We want the world to know that South Australia can produce world-class wines.
