The Marienberg Centre is a unique restaurant, wine bar and cellar door complex in the heart of the picturesque McLaren Vale.
The Centre incorporates the historically significant circa 1850's cottage, which was home to the local stonemason and limeburner, hence the name of the restaurant. The Marienberg Centre offers a cosy wine bar in the cottage, which is attached to the delightfully airy restaurant, showcasing some of the best regional produce the Fleurieu Peninsula has to offer.
Our cellar door facility located adjacent to the restaurant is the home of Marienberg and Fern Hill Estate wines, we welcome you to wander down during lunch and sample a large array of fine wines and local produce we have to offer along with corporate apparel and souvenirs.
Marienberg Wines:
Marienberg Wines was founded by Ursula Pridham in 1966. Ursula was Australia's first official female winemaker. Ursula built a successful career and an admirable reputation, producing quality wines from McLaren Vale. Ursula sold Marienberg Wines in the early 1990's. Marienberg still produces top quality wines that have gained a tremendous following amongst dedicated wine lovers. Marienberg Wines has received a steady flow of both national and international recognition. These accolades reflect the quality of the wines, which are packaged and labelled to compliment their elegant and contemporary style.
Fern Hill Estate Wines:
Wayne and Pat Thomas founded Fern Hill Estate Wins at McLaren Flat in the 1970's. In those days the winery was known as Thomas Fern Hill and it was under that name that the reputation for producing limited quantities of exceptional regional wines was forged. Fern Hill Estate quickly grew in prominence and for many years has been a popular destination for wine lovers from all over Australia. Wayne and Pat Thomas sold Thomas Fern Hill in 1994. Fern Hill Estate wines since has been relocated from McLaren Flat to share the cellar door outlet with Marienberg Wines.
