Each year between June and October, giant Southern Right Whales return to the waters of Victor Harbor's Encounter Bay.

It is estimated that only 3000 Southern Right Whales exist in the world, making viewing of these splendid creatures a memorable occasion.

During Whale Watching Season, you can call the Whale Info Hotline - 1900 WHALES (1900 942 537). It provides information on the most recent sightings.

Re-Opening 1 June 2008:

The South Australian Whale Centre promises to deliver a quality facility, which will feature exciting new displays. These are expected to portray both the historical and current relationship of whales with Victor Harbor and will feature interactive exhibits on other creatures of the deep including sharks, dolphins and local endangered species.
