Lieutenant James Cook and botanist Joseph Banks came ashore at this peninsula in 1770. The rocky headland juts north into the sea, with ocean to the east and quiet estuarine waters to the west.
Visit the rock cairn monument to Cook's first Queensland landing. Walk 250 metres to Round Hill Head lookout, through windswept tussock grasslands and dry vine forest, for views to the north. Look for dolphins and turtles in the clear waters below, or white-bellied sea-eagles overhead.
The park is located at the Town of 1770, just north of Agnes Water.
