Woolmers Estate is Australia's finest example of a pioneer farm of the early 1800s. The Estate has a collection of Georgian farm buildings, antique cars, photographs, art and furniture. It displays a remarkable journey from the first Thomas Archer, who settled the property in 1817, to the present day. For six generations the Thomas Archer familys descendants lived in the estate. They were known never to sell their possessions, thus creating a complete time capsule.
Guided house tours operate daily at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm and 3.30pm plus an extra 10am tour in summer. The tour takes approximately 45 minutes, or self-guided tours can be taken at any time during the day.
Woolmers walled garden was established by Thomas Archer in the 1840s, and has been restored by the Woolmers Foundation Inc., replanting trees, shrubs, roses and perennials of the period.
Also at Woolmers is the National Rose Garden. In late spring through to autumn you have the opportunity to walk through history with over 5000 roses, representing the historical development of the rose and covering all rose varieties.
The Servants Kitchen Restaurant is open for lunch, morning and afternoon teas. Admission prices vary during the year due to flowering times.
