Welcome to the south of Tasmania, the green hills and the ever changing colours of the sea. The scenic drive from Hobart to Huonville on the winding A6 highway will captivate you immediately. Once you have looked at the deep green forest hills, the valleys’ never ending orchards, the Huon river with its many bays and coves you wish you could stay here forever. Cygnet, a further 15 minutes drive south of Huonville on the B68 along the Huon river, is one of the most productive fruit and berries growing area. If you follow the Channel Highway further south you will soon pass by Green Gables. The house was built in 1993 right on the edge of Gardners Bay overlooking the rolling hills of the Black Jack Ridge on the other side. Set in 5,000 sqm of mature landscaped park/garden with many fruit trees, ornamentals and berry bushes Green Gables has always produced its own strawberries, currants, raspberries, mulberries, blueberries, cherries, plums, prunes, apples and pears. And when in season, these are served to our guests for breakfast. You can also choose from our own jellies, jams, organic eggs, homemade bread and bread rolls |
