As soon as you head off the meandering back roads of the Huon Valley and into the forested hills surrounding Huon Bush Retreats you’ll know you have found somewhere truly inspiring. Self-contained cabins, deluxe tipees, campsites and extensive facilities harmonise with a spectacular backdrop of protected old growth forest and bushland. Bathe under the stars, wander on walking tracks through rainforest groves or hike to the summit of Mt Misery. Facilities are solar powered, use natural rainwater collected on site and eco-friendly products. Cabins are contemporary and each in their own private forest setting. Tipis are fully carpeted and include double bed, wood heater, electric lights and a covered deck. The large cabin has full disabled facilities, a large living area, full kitchen, master bedroom (sleeps 4) plus an upstairs second bedroom (sleeps 4).
The studio cabins are open plan with sleeping, sitting and kitchen spaces. Each has a queen sized bed plus a double sofa bed and trundle bed, so can sleep up to 5 people.
The tipis are not quite luxury cabins, not quite camping. They are fitted with a double futon bed, wood heater, solar electric lights and a covered deck.
Campervan and walk-in tent sites are each sited separately to give a good degree of privacy. The showers and toilets are modern and comfortable. The camp kitchen offers gas oven, hotplates and barbecue, hot water and tables.
Self cater in well equipped kitchens or have meals to order delivered to your cabin or campsite. We can cater for outdoor functions for up to 60 people under cover.
On site activities include: A 2 minute wheelchair accessible lookout to a rainforest gully and hidden waterfall. Take the half hour loop track and experience 60 metre tall 300 year old trees in our oldgrowth forest. More challenging options also exist for the fit and experienced outdoors enthusiast. Nearby are outdoor based activities and destinations such as: Hartz Mountains and Southwest National Parks, Tahune Air Walk, Trout Fishing, Horse Riding, Bruny Island and a wide range of bushwalks.
Please Note: Huon Bush Retreats lives up to its name: we are a place ideally suited to people who want peace, privacy and/or want to connect with nature. We at the end of a 4km winding, narrow, gravel road. We recommend that you arrive in daylight unless you are used to navigating in remote areas. |
