In 1994 the Broke Fordwich area was the first region formally recognised as a separate viticultural sub-region of the Hunter Valley. While historically, it is one of the oldest wine growing areas in Australia, it is only in the last 30 years that Broke Fordwich has started to become an important player in Australian winemaking.
Today the area boasts over 70 "Boutique" vineyards. The ten intimate Cellar Doors are scattered throughout the valley and offer a wide range of award winning wines for tasting and purchase.
Broke Fordwhich also offers first class B&B's, self catering houses and cottages, cafes, licenced restaurants, farm shops and an antique shop.
