The Avon Valley National Park features forests and granite outcrops, panoramic views over the Avon Valley and the chance to see a wide variety of birds and wildlife. The Avon River flows in winter and spring (the best time to visit) when the river churns over spectacular rapids. During summer and autumn the river diminishes to a series of pools in a bed of granite boulders and tea-tree thickets.
Visitors to the park can enjoy an abundance of outdoor activities including bushwalking, canoeing, and picnicking. A riverside walk begins at the picnic area at the end of 41 Mile Road. Bush camping is permitted and fees are payable at the Ranger's residence. Commercial white water rafting tours are also available.
