Visit Dundee's Wildlife Park for something a little different. Dundee's is renowned as an interactive 'hands on' wildlife experience. Dundee's provides you with the unique opportunity to hold a crocodile, python and the black cockatoos as part of the 2pm tour, which is held on weekends, public holidays and every day during the South Australian school holidays. Don't forget your camera - prove to your friends just how brave you are! You will find your visit interesting and informative. Guided tours for groups of 15 or more people are run by appointment, and educational worksheets are provided for school groups upon request.
The park is situated on four acres of land and is home to a large range of Australian wildlife, including birds, reptiles and mammals. Dundee's Wildlife Park is only one hours drive from Adelaide, just off the freeway at Murray Bridge, and is open from 10am to 5pm every day of the year, except Good Friday and Christmas Day.
Dundee's Wildlife Park hosts South Australia's largest collection of salt and freshwater crocodiles, housed indoors amongst picturesque tropical surroundings. The large waterfall that runs through the enclosure flows into the crocodiles' home pond, which is directly at your feet when strolling across the boardwalk. To witness the crocodile feeding, be part of the 2pm show on the weekends during the warmer months.
The undercover area is home to numerous reptiles, many of which are handled on guided tours. The reptile room boats a range of pythons, from a 1.5 metre Carpet Python to an impressive 5.2 metres and growing, Amethystine Python. There is a Lace Monitor, and numerous other species of lizards to see also.
While in the undercover area, you have the rare chance to view the nocturnal house residents, including potoroos, bettongs, owls, a wombat, fruit bats, and more. These animals are rarely seen in the wild as they retreat to the protection of their nest during the day, hiding from all attention.
The two species of Black Cockatoo are a feature of the 2pm show performing some cute tricks to show off to you. These beautiful, hand raised birds will astound you with their friendliness and character, and how gentle they are for their size.
The assortment of colourful parrots are at home in the massive walk through bird aviaries, and are only too happy to fly down to be hand fed by you. You can also see the large range of doves and finches, and me be lucky enough to hear the laughter of kookaburras.
You can stroll through the wallaby enclosure and feed the three species on display. Many of the other park animals can also be hand fed, including kangaroos, emus, ostrich, water buffalo and more. The open park area and dam accommodates numerous species of birds, free-range kangaroos and one of the favourites - Sweetie, the donkey.

The integrated restaurant and hotel are another attribute to the Dundee's complex. The restaurant can seat 180 people and features a four-course smorgasbord lunch (12pm to 2pm) and dinner (6pm to 8pm). with a large selection of hot and cold foods available. Children are very welcome, with a video games and set up in the kid's corner, and 8-ball tables, pin ball and darts in the hotel. Bar meals are available in the hotel, and you can try your luck on one of the 32 machines in the adjoining pokie room.
