How to get to Hume’s Hovell fine Bed & Breakfast

Getting There Fly into Ballina/Byron Airport: alternatively Coolangatta Airport, or drive yourself

DIRECTIONS FROM THE SOUTH - APROX. 9 HOURS DRIVE from SYDNEY
Follow the Pacific Hwy up the coast, passing through Coffs Harbour.You will bypass Grafton on your left [THE FLOOD BYPASS ALSO BYPASSES GRAFTON AS A SHORT CUT] Either way you are still heading north. You will return onto the highway about 5kms north of Grafton and about an hours drive further north you will cross the Richmond River at Wardell. IMMEDIATELY TAKE THE 1st TURN-OFF ON THE LEFT- IT'S SIGNPOSTED TOURIST ROUTE 28 - ALSTONVILLE - Take this left turn off the highway and after 500 metres turn right [again signposted Alstonville] and continue along this road for approximately. 8.5kms and you will then be at the top of a steep hill and just onto the plateau overlooking the coastal sugarcane fields. Proceed about 400 metres and then turn left into Dalwood Road - you will see our bed and breakfast sign attached to the street signpost - proceed 3kms along Dalwood Road to our driveway on the left.


GUESTS DRIVING SOUTH- APPROX. 2.5hrs DRIVE from BRISBANE
Guests coming from the north, continue south on the Pacific Hwy past the Byron Bay turn-off at the Ewingsdale overpass [we are 25 minutes away] and proceed towards Ballina. You will pass a funny looking big tin knight and castle type tourist facility called Macadamia Land on the right hand side of the highway. Approx. 4kms past Macadamia Land you turn right off the highway

TURN RIGHT OFF THE HIGHWAY AND PROCEED ALONG TOURIST ROUTE 28 TO ALSTONVILLE. DRIVE DOWN THE MAIN STREET PAST THE PUB TO THE FUNNY LITTLE ROUND-A-BOUT [R.A.B.] IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ALSTONVILLE VILLAGE AREA .AT THIS R.A.B.TURN HARD BACK TO THE RIGHT TO GET TO IMMEDIATELY BEHIND THE HOTEL THEN TURN LEFT INTO WARDELL ROAD [ [YOU ARE STILL ON TOURIST ROUTE 28 continue along tourist route 28 [now also called Wardell Road] for 5.5kms to the DALWOOD ROAD TURN OFF ON THE RIGHT. Turn right into Dalwood Road and proceed 3kms to our driveway on the left!

Enjoying fresh prawns off a trawler at sunset or Fine Restaurant Dining. All this or simply snooze in a hammock by the pool, relax with jig-saws, scrabble, monopoly, cards etc, stroll to Victoria Park Nature reserve to watch the Wallaby's, wildlife and listen to the birds : breathe the air : heaven : its all here; it's your choice.
