From Sydney follow the Pacific Highway north. It is a 4.5 hour drive to Port Macquarie. From Brisbane, it is a 7 hour drive south. The Oxley Highway, over the Great Dividing Range, provides access from Tamworth and Western New South Wales.
Rail
The XPT train service between Sydney and Brisbane stops at Wauchope for passengers visiting Port Macquarie
Air
Port Macquarie is serviced by regular Qantaslink and Brindabella Airlines Flights. Flying time is one hour from Sydney and 1.5 hours from Brisbane.
