The Australian Celtic Festival first weekend in May every year, The four day festival provides non stop entertainment including the street parade, spectacular ceremonial roles, Celtic Strongman events, kirking of the Tartan, massed bands, children’s entertainment, dancing, flag raising ceremonies, poets’ breakfasts, yard dog trials, market stalls, fun run and Celtic foods great variety of traditional Celtic culture with song, dance, history and food which attracts visitors from around the world.
Glen Innes Show 15-17 February every year The Glen Innes Show is conducted over three days and is jam-packed with excitement and entertainment for all age groups and interests. a full schedule of events including 39 sections from Livestock to Folk Art. There will be a non-stop ring program featuring plenty of agricultural exhibits and the Grand Parade - Sat. February 16th at 4 pm.
Gourmet in the glen The Gourmet in the Glen and New England Wine and regional food Festival, held first weekend of October every year From the celebrity cook of and the opportunity to savour the wines and food together.
Fishing: Murray Cod, Rainbow Trout, Red fin and other species abound in the local creeks of Beardy Waters, Furracabad, Upper Severn and Wellingrove
National parks and Bird watching: Glenn Innes is the stepping off point for the World Heritage National Parks of Washpool, Gibralter Range, Torrington, Kings Plains, Mann River Reserve, Guy Fawkes River National Park, Llangothlin Nature Reserve. There are many walking tracks through these parks ranging from easy to medium and hard and you will see plenty of birds and other wildlife.
Fossicking : Fossick in some of the world’s richest gem fields for Sapphires, Emeralds, Topaz, other gems and minerals. Glen Innes is internationally famous for the deep rich royal blue sapphire, it's part of the most prolific sapphire region in NSW and has the World’s richest mineral diversity belt. You can hire equipment and go guided field tours. All this is arranged at our very efficient local Tourist information Centre.
