The Forest EcoCentre is a forest interpretation centre at Scottsdale, northeast Tasmania. The Forest EcoCentre features a complex multi-media interpretation system. Interactive displays showcase many aspects of northeast Tasmania's forests, including their ecology, management, unique fauna and cultural heritage. You can sample fresh Tasmanian produce in the Centre’s café, including a selection of wine from Tasmania’s Tamar Valley and Pipers River regions. Visit the gift shop to choose from a range local wine and produce, or browse the displays of fine wood design and pottery crafted by local artisans. The Forest EcoCentre is contained within an ecologically sustainable building, the first of its type in the southern hemisphere. The elegant 'building within a building' - designed by award-winning Hobart architect Robert Morris-Nunn - is expected to use 80 per cent less energy than a conventional building of the same size. Scottsdale is an hour’s drive northeast of Launceston (63 kilometres/39 miles).
