Launceston Lakes and Wildlife Park offer trout fishing and wildlife tours near Launceston, Tasmania. The five lakes are located 20 minutes’ drive from Launceston, northern Tasmania’s major city. Surrounded by natural bush land, the lakes have a total shoreline of more than five kilometres (3.1 miles). Launceston Lakes in northern Tasmania provides private fly fishing for trout and tuition in angling. They are well-stocked with brown and rainbow trout, with fish up to trophy size of six kilograms (13.2 pounds) and more. Only fly fishing is permitted and no fishing licence is required. There are barbecue and picnic facilities, a play area for children and a shop on the site. The Devils Heaven Night Safari Tour offers a spotlight drive to observe the abundant native wildlife. Attractions in the wider region include the cultural scene and restaurants of Launceston, the Tamar Valley Wine Route, Seahorse World and the Platypus House at Beauty Point.
