Black Queen - Lightning Ridge NSW - Winner: 2007 Inland NSW Tourism Award.
Australia’s foremost antique lamp museum, houses over 200 magnificent lamps from our personal collection, which dates from 1700 to 1926. On display with a backdrop of colourful feature bottle walls, these lamps are simply astonishing, something to behold. This museum is regarded as an important part of Australian life now preserved for the future. The kerosene lamps come alive at the world’s only live and interactive show. Your senses will be stimulated as you watch, listen, touch, hold and pass on to others - selected kerosene lamps - of which some may even be lit. Hear the fascinating stories. Understand the history as civilisation advanced into the new era of light with the first usage of a petroleum product. Also, join us for a most unusual personally guided tour through the three separate cottage buildings that comprise the Black Queen. The first building is our totally eco sustainable home. The second cottage building explores in more detail the amazing Joan Andrews, who started construction of the Black Queen at 60 years of age. The third building houses the magnificent Black Queen Antique Lamp Museum and gift shop.
The Black Queen holds two separate events daily: Black Queen Light Show: 9.00am, 1.00pm and 3.00pm Black Queen Cottage Tours: 10.00am, 2.00pm and 2.30pm
