Araluen Botanic Park is a very special place nestled in the deep jarrah forested valley in the Darling Range. Araluen is a tranquil botanic garden of natural and developed beauty, providing four seasons of relaxing activity. Whatever time you visit Araluen, you will find the streams flowing, plenty of grassy areas on which to enjoy a barbecue or picnic and several delightful bush walks to take.

It's "Springtime at Araluen" featuring the renowned tulip display. This is held from August/September annually. Other events include special children's activity days during January and April school holidays. The park is a favourite venue for weddings, photography and family get-togethers.

Heavenly gardens of both exotic and native species, with many over 60 years old, have been created in this unique hills setting of loam soils and high rainfall. Magnificent stone terraced gardens and mature trees form the basis of the park.

At Araluen Botanic Park there is flora and fauna to see. Native wildflowers can be seen throughout the year. Bush walks abound with the posiibility of maybe seeing a kangaroo or wallaby. Try some bird watching and find that elusive kookaburra . The surrounding Perth Hills area also provides visitors with the opportunity to visit a winery, partake in some fine cuisine or even do a touch of fruit picking.

Araluen has a proud past. It was established in 1929 by J.J Simons as a holiday camp for the Young Australia League. Members and volunteers worked each weekend to create paths, steps, roads, terraces and structures. Many of the 1930's rustic Jarrah log cabins on the site are of high heritage value.

The State's most amazing Botanical Park was bought by the Western Australian Government for the public in 1990 and is now managed by the Araluen Botanic Park Foundation Incorporated.
