Armadale Settlers Common was vested by the Armadale-Kelscott Road Board (now Armadale City Council) on 2 August 1912. During World War II part of the commons was used for charcoal production. It covers 383 hectares of the darling scarp and foothills and is used for passive bushland recreation.
The Armadale Settlers Common Field Study Centre was established in 1993. The building has grown into many buildings which are used by local environmental and community groups. The buildings offer public toilets and there are electric barbecues which are very popular with walkers.
A lookout which gives a spectacular view and panorama of Perth city is only a short walk away.
