The Observatory has three telescopes, including one of 400mm(16in) that makes it possible to see clearly the damage done recently to Jupiter by an errant comet. It has a library, a computer, a camera that can transfer the image from a telescope to a television screen, and a heated lecture room.
Experienced instructors will guide visitors through the heavens and show them how to get maximum performance and enjoyment from a telescope.
Initially, the Observatory will be open between 0800 and 1000 on Saturday nights. There will be additional viewing nights for events such as eclipses, transits and comets.
Arrangements can be made with the orchard to provide overnight farm-stay accommodation if it is requested.
