The Blackboy Hill commemorative site is a unique piece of military architecture, which should not be missed by those with an interest in Australian military lore.
Originally it was the training camp for West Australians before their departure overseas during World War I.
The site which is located on an 'A' Class Reserve is vested in councils control and in conjunction with the Bellevue Returned Soldiers League (RSL) has been maintained and developed in order to commemorate the rising of the Anzac spirit.
Recent landscaping work and the provision of a static information display have enhanced this meaning.
Blackboy Hill is of historical interest in its own right. Situated in the foothills of the darling scarp some 25 kilometres east of Perth, it is part of the original grant of 4,00 acres of land on the Swan and Helena Rivers made to Captain James Stirling who was commissioned by the British Government to annex the colony of Western Australia in 1829.
