Fremantle Festival is the principal community event held in Fremantle each year. It is a celebration of the stimulating and colorful culture that enriches Fremantle and fosters participation of all cultural, ethnic, arts and community groups.
The first Fremantle Festival was held in 1905 and over the past 100 years has retained the tradition of celebrating the things that contribute to making Fremantle such a unique place in which to live, work and play. Five core events are produced by the City of Fremantle: the opening event, the Wardarnji Aboriginal Cultural Celebration, the Kite Extravaganza, the Carnival and the Lotterywest Street Parade.
