From the OCEAN to the OUTBACK
Jahroc designs furniture that is a reflection of our environment. What sets us apart from the crowd is the diversity of our influence, having one foot in the wheatbelt and one foot on the coast. The result is an extremely eclectic range of designs for you to choose from.
The Outback Gallery, located in the wheat belt town of York Western Australia, is a converted four storey 19th century Flour Mill featuring over a half a million convict made red clay bricks. The massive timber structure that forms the skeleton of the building is made up of huge Jarrah beams and posts creating an awesome back drop to the fine furniture and art on display.
The furniture designed here is chunky and simple, influenced by wide open spaces and reflects the practicality and ingenuity of our early settlers. Some of the work is fitted with hand forged iron by our resident blacksmith.
Many of the forms are a direct result of the sections of timber used which have been salvaged from old bridges, sheds and wheat silos. The use of this finite resource renders our furniture highly collectable and provides you with the opportunity to purchase true family heirlooms.
Cruise into the Jahroc Cafe where you will be treated to culinary delights prepared by chef Jeffery Eaton using the finest local produce. Whilst you are enjoying a relaxing meal the kids can play on the largest tyre swing you have ever seen, within Jahroc's own kids playground. Hopefully by now you will need to visit the toilets because believe us, you would not want to miss them, a state of the art convenience experience. You will just shake your head in amazement!
The Coastal Gallery is located in the main street of Margaret River in the South West of Western Australia and its also a historic building built in the early 1900's. The two structures were built as simple timber frame buildings clad with Jarrah weather boards and iron roofs. The front building was a trading post and the rear one a residence.
Both partners in Jahroc are passionate surfers and Margaret River apart from being famous for its wine is of course world renown for its powerful surf. The designs that are created in this region reflect the fluid lines and raw energy of the Indian Ocean.
The Jarrah, Marri and Karri forests are also a source of inspiration as well as raw materials. Jahroc Furniture has formed strategic alliances with timber millers that specialize in the salvaging of fallen logs from the forest floor. These unique pieces of wood yield unusual shapes and striking grain patterns not found in commercial milling operations. Often the design of a special furniture piece is born as a result of these rare odd shapes found on the forest floor. The result of this again is furniture that is truly unique and collectable.
Also featured in both galleries is fine art and craft created by over 130 other leading Australian artists and craft practitioners.
There's one thing for sure, if you visit Jahroc Galleries you are in for a day out to remember and if you fall in love with anything at all, we offer a hassle free shipping service to your door anywhere in the world.
