A leisurely two hour drive north from Perth, through the scenic Swan and Chittering Valleys, our little piece of Spain emerges out of the Australian bush at the side of the Great Northern Highway.
The best way to discover Australia's only monastic town is to take a guided tour. The town's many layers are revealed as you see behind closed doors and hear the stories of New Norcia. Highlights include the beautifully frescoed chapel at St Ildephonsus and St Gertrude Colleges, the Abbey Church and monk's own chapel within the Monastery. All of these sites will be linked by commentary from our guides, which will bring together three threads of New Norcia's rich history: Indigenous, European and Missionary.
Whether your passion is for history, art, architecture or nature, or you just want to escape into the relaxing pace of New Norcia, then the Town Tour is for you.
Tours start at 0900, 1100 and 1330 daily. Tickets can be purchased from the New Norcia Museum and Art Gallery where the tour begins.
Special combined ticket available: Walking Tour + After Tour Tastes of Local Produce + Entry to Museum and Art Gallery
