Constructed in 1897 on Mount Eliza, the Old Observatory is a supremely elegant building which at one time served as the astronomer's residence and office.

The Observatory was dismantled in the 1960's and the telescope was moved to the new Observatory at Bickley. The building is now the headquarters of the Western Australian branch of the National Trust.
