Since opening in 1988, over three million visitors have experienced over 160 interactive exhibits, whole feature exhibitions and theatre shows. At Scitech inquisitive minds of all ages learn about science by investigating exhibits and seeing spectacular special effects. Scitech's designers are world renowned for their innovative and creative exhibit design that makes learning science immensely enjoyable. Every visit is an adventure with hands-on discovery items for you to touch, switch, climb, crank and explore. Scitech's feature exhibitions are also a must see.
Scitech's exciting program of live theatre demonstrations takes place in the 150-seat Lotterywest Science Theatre. Similarly, the CSIRO Lab has stimulating laboratory sessions while the Scitech Roadshow is taking the Scitech experience to people in regional and remote communities in Western Australia. Visitors can make their own music video or animation by experiencing the SoundHouse - a cutting-edge music and animation studio. Visitors can also enjoy Horizon - the Planetarium - a state-of-the-art planetarium screening high-tech multi-media space shows on an 18 metre domed screen - the largest in Australia and New Zealand.
Scitech's mission is to increase interest and participation in science and technology. Scitech is also much more than a science centre, being utilised as a function centre after hours, as a distinctive fundraiser, conference or social club venue.
