Walyunga National Park is located in the Darling Scarp of Western Australia (outer Perth Metropolitan Region) and is approximately 1,790 hectares. It is located 37 kilometres north east of Perth.

Access to the park is via a sealed road from Perth up Great Northern Highway, turn right at Walyunga National Park signs on Highway and travel two kilometres on sealed road to park boundary. No vehicles are permitted on fire maintenance tracks. Transperth buses run to the highway turn off only.

Walyunga National Park has attractive scenery of the Swan River running through the Avon Valley, scenic views of Perth and Swan Coastal Plain.

Animals to be found on this park are Kangaroos, Emus, Echidna, Black Duck, Teal and a variety of other birds.

Discreet camping is allowed at the top end of the park. Toilets, water, barbecues and tables are available for use. It is essential to book with the ranger.

There are two picnic sites. These are Walyunga Pool and Boongarup Pool. Both provide toilets, barbecues, tables and water.

Five distinct walking trails are within the park: River, Kangaroo, Echidna, Kingfisher and Aboriginal Heritage Trail. Walks vary in length and difficulty and lead walkers to vistas over the river, scarp and through the beautiful bushland of the park.

Swimming is possible at Walyunga pool in the river only. The water is untreated and snags are present so swimming not recommended.

When canoeing wear life jackets and helmets as the river is hazardous.
