Warnbro Sound is a classic round, bowl-shaped bay located near Rockingham, about a 40 minute drive south of Perth. The bay has a shallow rim near the beach with a neat, rounded slope that drops to a depth of around 17 metres. The seabed is covered in seagrass four to eight metres from the shore and sand thereafter.
Commercial fishing, mussel farming, and crabbing operations take place in Warnbro Sound. The bay is also a popular recreational fishing spot with many motorboats out in the sound during the weekends and holiday periods. Safety Bay offers excellent windsurfing, kitesurfing, and sailing conditions.
There are a number of dive sites located within Warnbro Sound. The West Coast Dive Park covers an area of 279 square kilometres in which there are at least 10 shipwrecks waiting to be explored. Warnbro Sound is teeming with fascinating marine life around this sites and are worth checking out.
