Atherton Tablelands Accommodation - Kairi, Cairns Highlands, Tropical Far North Queensland, Australia - Two private luxury fully self contained cottages on 41 acres tucked away in a secluded valley at the end of a country road. Just over an hours drive from the Cairns Airport, yet nestled among the natural wonders of the Atherton Tablelands.

Wake up to birdsong and the smell of fresh country air, see the Kangaroos playing and the cattle grazing, drop a line in the private dam - catch a Sooty Grunter or two. Soak in the double spa (Dingo’s Lair) or spoil yourself by indulging in a traditional Hawaiian Temple Style Massage in the privacy of your own cottage.

How to get to Barking Owl Retreat
Self drive destination or Bus. Centrally located on the edge of the Atherton Tableland Golden Triangle, outside the highland drizzle, just over an hours drive from the Cairns Airport. Our property is located at 409 Hough Road KAIRI. Follow the maps from Cairns to the Atherton Tablelands either through Kuranda Range or Gillies Range (Both similar distance) Via Kuranda Range and coming from Tolga, head towards Kairi on Tolga-Kairi Road, then turn left on to Hough Road, 500m prior to Stockman's Hall of Hay.
Via Gillies Range travel through Yungaburra and follow maps towards Kairi, turn left on to Tolga-Kairi Road, and then turn right on to Hough Road, about 500m past Stockman's Hall of Hay.
Follow Hough Road 4km to the end (as we are the last property) look for Rural No. 409 at the left of the gates.

We are privileged to be just minutes away from Wineries, Coffee Plantations, Wildlife viewing, and many more local Tours and Attractions, and not to mention a Cheese and Chocolate Factory. Barking Owl Retreat is also minutes from Tinaroo Dam for Waters Sports and Barra Fishing and a short drive from Yungaburra for Fine Dining and their famous markets. We also have a large variety of beautiful Australian Native Birds and Wildlife at our doorstep.
