We have daily visits from a cassowary - so if you have hot seen this magnificent but endangered bird, Licuala Lodge is the place to be.

We have a large guest lounge with TV, DVD, CD player and loads of books and games. For those wishing to ’self-cater’ we have a microwave, hot plate, BBQ and all the necessary cutlery and crockery.

If you really must do some washing or ironing, then you can get your fix here.

Almost all the tour operators pick up from the Lodge for free - what more could you want ’ A cup of tea or coffee on arrival - We do that, no worries.

Cancellation Policy
This property does not accept cancellations or changes to bookings. Refunds are not available.

Extra Guest / Children
The guest rooms can sleep three adults, or two adults and one child. An extra adult is charged at $45 per day. Kids are charged at $25 per day.
The Lodge is NOT suitable for children under the age of ten.


How to get to Licuala Lodge
From Cairns
Travelling South along the Bruce Highway, it is a 2 hour drive through beautiful tropical North Queensland. Just after an hour of travelling you will arrive at the fairly large town of Innisfail. Keep on the Bruce Highway - there is a right turn to be made as you leave Innisfail (signposted Tully) in order to stay on the highway. After about 40 minutes or so, you should come across the township of El Arish, and there is a left turn for Mission Beach. Follow the road (for about 14 kms) and just before entering Mission Beach you pass Clump Mountain on your left, and a few hundred metres further on there is a small retail estate on the right. Immediately after the shops take a right (signposted Cassowary Drive, Wongaling Beach, South Mission Beach, Tully). About one km on the right is Mission Circle - which has one of those blue B&B Accommodation signs on the corner. Simple!

From Townsville
A 2.5 hour drive North on the Bruce Highway. Upon leaving Townsville you start to enter the Wet Tropics of Queensland, and you will pass the spectactular Hinchinbrook Island. Just after the town of Tully (a typical Queensland town) there is a right turn for Mission Beach. Follow that road and after about 10 km you will see one of our BIG B&B road signs, telling you that you have another 9 kms to go. You will pass a police station and a school on the right hand side, then a smallish retail centre on the right (comprising of a supermarket, chemist, servo, butcher, video shop and a few more shops). In front of the shops is a big concrete cassowary - about 4 or 5 metres high. Mission Circle is the first left after you pass the shops - about 1 km, and it has one of those blue B&B Accommodation signs on the corner. Too Easy!

Cairns Airport: Mission Beach Dunk Island Connections bus departs the airport at 7am, 11am & 2pm Phone: 07 4059 2709. They will deliver you to our door.

Out and About
Mission Beach is the closest mainland point to the Great Barrier Reef. So plenty of scuba diving and snorkelling here.
White Water Rafting on the Tully river - a great day out.
Sky Diving from 14,000 feet and landing on the beach - fantastic.
Sea Kayaking over to Dunk Island.
Reef and river Fishing. Golf.
Lots of Rainforest walks.
14km of beach - wow !!
Great restaurants - no big chain fast food outlets here - is that paradise or what ??

We have a couple of bikes that you can use if you are feeling energetic. If you fancy a go on the ride-on mower then feel free.
