Venus Bay Caravan Park is situated on the beachfront in the small township of Venus Bay, midway between Streaky Bay to the north and Elliston, to the south on the west coast of South Australia. It is approximately four hours drive west of Port Augusta, via Wudinna; two hours drive southeast of Ceduna and two and a half hours drive northwest of Port Lincoln.
Venus Bay Caravan Park has a deluxe ensuite cabin, standard ensuite cabin, a standard cabin, a budget cabin, and powered and un-powered sites, clean ablution blocks, sheltered camp kitchen, barbecue area and fish cleaning facilities. The caravan park also has a kiosk, postal agency, tourist information outlet, ice and fishing tackle.
There is a lovely beach playground near the jetty with a barbecue and playground area. This is an ideal base to fish the protected waters of the bay and explore the surrounding coastline and beaches where one can fish, swim, surf or simply relax in this quiet little town. Fishing from the jetty is pretty much the social life of Venus Bay being a popular spot with locals and tourists alike.
Venus Bay Caravan Park hires out two, three metre pelican fibreglass boats. Charter fishing is available. Mount Camel Beach is a favourite for those who like surf fishing. At the end of the town, the South Head Walking Trail can be found. It is a trail that takes you around the southern head of the entrance to Venus Bay. It is not unusual to find pods of dolphins swimming through the waves at the entrance.
The ’Needle Eye Lookout’ a natural rock formation in the limestone cliffs is a unique example of the power of the ocean and offers spectacular endless views of the rugged coastline. Talia Beach and Talia Caves are a short drive south of Venus Bay. Port Kenny a small township 12 kilometres from Venus Bay on the Flinders Highway has the nearest hotel.
