Laurel Hill, NSW Australia
| Address | Laurel Hill New South Wales, Australia |
There’s a frontier atmosphere at Laurel Hill, the home of forests and a hardwood mill, on the high ridges between Tumbarumba and Batlow. Access the scenic and adventure-packed Bago State Forest via Laurel Hill. There are many activities in the Bago State Forest, including four-wheel driving in the dry months, fossicking, fishing and swimming at Paddy's River Dam. The Hume and Hovell Walking Track also passes through the forest. Other attractions at Laurel Hill and Bago State Forest include the spectacular “Sugarpine Walk” and Pilot Hill Arboretum and picnic area. The “Sugarpine Walk” is a walk through a perfect cathedral of sugar pines. It is even better when the sun shines through and casts shadows – you just have to see it for yourself! The Bago State Forest is home to some of the area’s first timber mills and also to Depression-era gold mining shafts.
