At Manjimup Timber Park you can bring your own food and enjoy a barbecue or picnic under shelter amongst the magnificent south west wildflowers. Play with your children among the historic displays and on the playground equipment, or just enjoy a stroll along walk trails under the shady trees beside cool waterways. Browse amongst the arts and crafts, wander through the Age of Steam Museum, the Forest Visitors Centre and Timber Museum with its old machinery and tools on display.

Please note the park will close thirty minutes earlier than the above times, which are for the main exhibition hall. A steam whistle will sound to indicate park closure.

The timber park concept originated in 1983, when ways were being sought to enhance the appeal of the state timber museum. The original idea was to provide a regional recreational, tourism and educational facility explaning the history of the timber industry in the south west of the state.

Highlights of the park include:

"Forest Visitors Centre"
Containing Manjimup Tourist Bureau (where souvenirs may be purchased), displays by Conservation and Land Management, a lookout, and the Forest Information Officer.

"Age of Steam Museum"
See an original sawmill steam engine/steam loco, plus other equipment from early days of the timber industry.

"Timber Park Gallery"
Contains arts and crafts mainly from the south west of the state. You may also see an artisan or two at work. Buy a long lasting gift of quality, or a memento of your visit to the park. Tempt your tastebuds with a delicious devonshire tea.

"Historical Hamlet"
Contains an early mill house, old school playground, one teach school, forests department museum, old police station and lockup. These buildings will be renovated and gradually furnished in the manner in which they were originally used, and cottage gardens will be established in the hamlet.

"Fire Tower Lookout"
Climb the eighteen metre tower for a view over the surrounding countryside.

"State's only Timber Museum"
Depicts the history of Western Australia's timber industry since the first pit sawn timber was exported from the Swan River Colony in 1830. See the karri log time clock, with three-hundred and fifty years of historical events shown on its growth rings. Also outdoor exhibits.

"Other Facilities"
Include picnic shelters, childrens playground, barbecues, posting box, telephone and toilets.
