St Mary's Church, located on the Vasse River, is the oldest stone church in Western Australia. It is built of limestone and jarrah with a sheoak shingle roof. Early settlers built the church under the leadership of John Garrett Bussell, with financial assistance from friends in England.
The foundation stone was laid in 1844. Georgiana Molloy, wife of Captain Molloy, is buried in the church and a plaque is near the pulpit. The churchyard has many pioneer graves, including John Garrett Bussell.
As the church is now too small for the present congregation, extensions have been constructed on the adjacent land. Visitors are welcome.
