You will snorkel Flinders Reef and the Tangalooma Wrecks on Moreton Island. Flinders Reef, only one hour from Caloundra has had only limited exposure to the public in the past and is in pristine condition, a real jewel of the sea. Swimming in these warm clear waters, surrounded by the tropical fish that inhabit this beautiful underwater world, is an experience few have had. You will see extensive staghorn coral gardens, canyons and ledges with frequent turtle, crayfish, anemone fish and manta sightings.
The Tangalooma Wrecks, located on the western side of Moreton Island, offer all year round sheltered snorkelling amongst old dredges and barges that were sunk thirty five years ago. Since that time many species of tropical fish have come to live amongst the hard coral, which has grown on the wrecks.
Breakaway Charters will provide snorkelling instruction for those nervous first time snorkellers and all snorkelling equipment is provided.
For those who would prefer staying a little closer to shore, Breakaway Charters also schedules a two and a half hour daylight/twilight cruise down Pumicestone Passage or a three and a half hour return cruise to Mooloolaba, taking in the stunning coastline of Caloundra.
The Twilight cruise is an ideal way to watch a beautiful sunset over the Glasshouse Mountains, a great opportunity to see Caloundra by night.
