Chinese New Year Festival:
Sydney will be overtaken by the noise, colours, crowds and excitement of one of the City's most loved events during the 2006 Chinese New Year Festival.
More than 500,000 people will crowd Sydney's streets from 26 January to 12 February to celebrate the Year of the Dog. Three weeks of exciting events will celebrate the Lunar New Year and all things Chinese, with something on offer for every age and interest.
Experience the authentic atmosphere of an Asian street market at Sydney's most exciting new food event, Hawker Central, located in Belmore Park (close to Central Station). Created especially for the Chinese New Year Festival, Hawker Central showcases the best regional Chinese and Asian cuisines from some of our best restaurants.
The colour and crowds of the Chinese New Year Parade, the speed and excitement of the Dragon Boat Races and the bustle and bargains of the Chinatown Markets are highlights of one of Sydney's biggest and best annual celebrations.
