The Manly Art Gallery & Museum is magnificently situated on Sydney Harbour, four minutes walk from Manly Wharf. Opened in 1930 by Manly Council, it was the first metropolitan regional gallery in NSW. The Gallery has become a popular destination for thousands of local, interstate & international visitors each year.
The Gallery showcases a dynamic changing exhibitions program as well as its Australian art & cermics. The Gallery is a hub of community activity, as they present workshops, artists' talks, readings, recitals & performances. Also the epicentre of the annual Manly Arts Festival & Manly's public art program.
The Museum is dedicated to preserving Manly's unique history as one of Australia's most loved beach resorts. Opened in 1982, it focuses on the history of Manly & the Northern Beaches. The particular emphasis is on beach culture in the 20th century. Their collection includes examples of swimwear, Hawaiian shirts, sunglasses, hats, towels, beachbags & longboards. They also have many photographs, beach memorabilia & documents.
