Create some ’down on the farm memories’ - 3 b/r s/c cottage near beach and river sleeps 6-8 or 6 adults -On the West Tamar Touring Route near Beaconsfield, Kelso and Greens Beach - central for day tours across Northern Tsmania.
2 b/rs have a double bed, (one also has a ‘daybed’ and cot), third bedroom contains 2 single beds. You’ll have a fully equipped kitchen, lounge (with wood fire), bathroom with restored original free standing claw foot bath, separate toilet and laundry with w/m and dryer. The front yard is secure for the littlies to play in while parents relax.
The views are lovely - across our farm to the Tamar River, Beauty Point and distant mountains.
You can relax by the cosy wood fire after a busy day touring Tasmania, or just laze on the verandah, watch the day close as the birds nestle in for the night under the Southern Cross. Listen to "Otis", our lovely gentleman bull calling goodnight to his lady loves in the next paddock. Daylight breaking over the brae is wonderful - (just like a baby’s first smile!)
We love and cater for well behaved children! We’ve got toys and books in the cottage and our “Bonny Brae Farm Kid Pack” contains a worksheet and projects for them to complete on what they see and do on the farm. Our aim is to ensure families have a wonderful experience and the children leave Bonny Brae with a keen appreciation of caring for animals and some farming knowledge. (Only avail with stays of 5 days or more)
The hay ride in summer to the river and to feed the cows and calves is always popular with junior farmers – and mums and dads!
We also have many horse drawn vehicles - jinkas, drays, sulkies etc. and a vintage tractor in our huge Apple Shed Museum.
Baby sitting service is available with notice. Pets by arrangement.
We can provide delicious light meals for late arrivals by prior arrangement.
On Farm Activities:- In summer, help feed the stock, chickens and baby animals Help your children with their "Bonny Brae Farm Kid" kit Wander the gardens and orchard Sample the fruit and veges and taste the quality city folk miss out on! (Young orchard of seasonal produce - apples, peaches, rasberries, boysenberries, grapes, strawberries etc.) Pat the cows, horses and cheeky goats Collect fresh free range eggs for your breakfast Stroll through the paddocks down to the river’s edge Explore the pebbly beaches and safe wading areas or have a picnic and relax; (Picnic/BBQ baskets available with notice) Feed the fish at high tide Spot the wildlife - water birds, native hens, fish, wombats, possums and devils at night, wallabies, sleepy lizards, parrots, cockatoos and guinea fowl. Throw in a line - you never know your luck! (Hand Lines Available). Bring a swag/sleeping bag and camp with the kids in the hay shed in style!
