Heimat Chalets,
New Norfolk
430 Blackhills Road
New Norfolk
A warm welcome awaits you from hosts Maxine and Henry Stauffer, who invite you to enjoy either an overnight stop or an extended holiday at Heimat Chalets. The two Chalets are part of their 40-hectare (100-acre) farm in the lush quiet hills behind New Norfolk, on the way to the west coast, with panoramic views to Mount Wellington, in the south, and Mount Field National Park to the west. The area is known for its forests, wildlife and birdlife. Both chalets are decorated in a simple contemporary style and are self-contained, fully air-conditioned and sit alongside a redcurrant orchard overlooking the picturesque Derwent Valley. If you just want to relax and have a quiet evening together, you can ask for dinner to be brought to your chalet. Provisions for a hearty continental breakfast are provided. Chalet 1: for families, with a queen-size bed downstairs and three single beds and a cot upstairs. Your children are our guests too! Chalet 2: for couples, or two couples travelling together, with a queen-size bed downstairs and a king-size bed upstairs. There is an outdoor play area and you can explore the farm; on warm days you can barbecue in the classic Australian bush hut. Heimet Chalets is ideal to use as a base and head out to explore the Derwent Valley, Salmon Ponds, Mt Field National Park and Russell Falls, or even take a day trip to Lake St Clair or Lake Pedder.
